Town Looking For New Manager?

Iffy Onuora will be Manager of Swindon Town Football Club next season…. or will he?

The Swindon Town board had given every indication that Onuora would be the man in charge next season, however after a string of poor results towards the end of the season, the club have now drawn up a list of candidates to take over the job of taking Swindon Town back to League One.

New Director Bill Power has already promised £1M to spend this upcoming season and with Power’s cheque book open a new manager may be on the way.

‘There have been several names that we have discussed – we have really tried to think about every possibility, ‘ Powe said

When talking about Iffy Onuora’s current status at the club it seem’s the club are re-interviewing Onuora now and still say he is the man for the job…. at the moment, ‘At the moment Iffy is in the driving seat but we need to make sure we are doing the right thing.’

‘I will have a lot to say about the kind of character we need to get us promoted and if Iffy can prove he is the right man, then he is the man who will be there.’

‘But if there is any doubt at all then we have got a list of other people.’

‘I want to hear from the man himself that he is certain he can do it.’

‘There can’t be any of this ‘given a fair wind and nice weather’ – we need to do it no matter if it snows on the first day of the season.’

Power admits the pressure will be on Town to go straight back up saying that Swindon are the biggest club in the divison, ‘I don’t want to put pressure on anyone but the fact is that Swindon will be a massive club in League Two and everyone will be looking at us, ‘ said Power.

‘We have to make sure we are prepared for that and we cannot make any mistakes.’

Power was quick to re-iterate that no final decision has been made about Onuora’s future, ‘Nothing has been decided yet and I want to hear what Iffy has got to say.’

‘He is very articulate and he knows what he wants to achieve – we will sit down and go through it.’

‘Personally, I really do like Iffy and I hope he says to me ‘this is how I’m going to do it and I am absolutely certain about it, But that said, I have to think about Swindon Town Football Club and the fans.’ Power concluded.

Names linked with the Swindon job are Dennis Wise, Ian Holloway, and Martin Ling, the former Town favourite who recently took Leyton Orient to League One by relegating local rivals, Oxford United.

Should Onuora stay Power said there would be someone with an ‘old head on his shoulders and many contacts in the game’ coming in to help lead Swindon back to League One.
