Swindon Town’s reserves made it to the Wiltshire Premier Shield final this evening after destroying Chippenham Town 5-3 on penalties (ahem).

With Swindon 1-0 up after the first leg, all the Robins needed was a draw in order to progress but where’s the fun in that?

The Bluebirds took the lead after 17 minutes after Scott Lye got the ball to Seavill on the wing who provided an early cross to find Sercombe to score.

Swindon were kept at bay thanks to a string of impressive saves from Snoddy but an equaliser on the night by Billy Paynter ensured that the teams went in at Half-Time 1-1 and 2-1 to Swindon overall.

The 2nd half saw ex-Town youth Kevin Halliday put Chippenham in the lead to take it into Extra Time.

After a scoreless extra 30 minutes it was penalty kicks, which Swindon walked away victorious scoring all five efforts (which makes a change).

It was Kevin Halliday who missed the all important penalty to gift Swindon their place in the Final (Hurrah)

Chippenham Town: Snoddy, Adams, Halliday, Williams, Casey (Kite 38), Gardener, Lye, Holly, Sercombe, Seavill, Bryan.
Subs: Harvey, Gullick, Martin, Highmore.

Swindon Town: Smith, Thompson, Kennedy, Allen, Morrison, Evans, Marshall, Morris, Paynter, Joyce, Casal.
Subs: Hyde, Scott, Evans, Macklin, Hartman.

It’ll be interesting to see what Danny Wilson made of Casal who played at left midfield. He showed one or two nice touches & a turn of pace. Will Wilson utilise him in this position or is he going to get another chance at left-back? Or perhaps he’ll be surplus to requriements. Who knows?
In the second half, Casal was subbed for Lloyd Macklin. Macklin went over to right mid whilst Mark Marshall came across to the left.
I can’t believe Billy Paynter played the entire 120 minutes.
