In a poll conducted by swindon.vitalfootball.co.uk asked Should Swindon stay on the County Ground site? and the results showed that 63% of vital visitors wanted Swindon Town to stay on the County Ground site.
However, 31% were happy to move as long as it was in Swindon. 6% felt that the County Ground wasn’t important in any potential future progress.

I’m suprised that so many were happy to leave the site. Although, I concur that as long as it’s in Swindon a move in okay in principle – I’d much rather have a new stadium/redevelopment where the CG is located.
Any thoughts people?
It would be incredibly short sighted to leave the CG site unless there was a specific reason to do so!
Unless you are in the Premier or poss the Chumpionship these new grounds to me look good and facilities are good but somehow lack character.
Also can we afford this – would sooner have a good team than a great stadium, look at Poxford what a shambles they are in with their 3 sided new ground.
Ideally a redevelopment of the CG would be my preferred choice. I’d like to see something original and unique in the design… and dare I mention the phrase, ‘safe-standing’?
Additionally, I’d prefer a compact, atmospheric 10’000 capacity ground as opposed to a 16-20k half empty soulless arena e.g Darlington.
A lot of clubs who have build stadiums way to big for there fan base are seeing the error of there ways now, it would deifnatly make more sense to have a 10,000 max. capacity with room to expand when needed. Saying that it would probably cost more to develop the county ground in its current state that to build a brand new ‘flat pack’ stadium, i’m not saying thats a good thing! just that i can see why clubs have moved away from there original grounds and made a lot of profit on typically central locations and then built stadiums on the outskirts of town for less of the cost than a redevelopment.
I believe Bristol City are looking at safe-standing for their new ground.
There’s absolutely no reason why terracing shouldn’t return for lower league clubs especially.
Back when Yeovil were in Non-League didn’t they design one of their terraces so that seating could be put in place when need be? That would be a good idea.
