Newly appointed Torquay United manager is interested in taking his friend and current Swindon youth team manager Paul Bodin to Plainmoor as his assistant manager.

The former Leyton Orient manager told the BBC that Torquay ‘we actively looking for an assistant manager now. Paul Bodin is one of the people we’re looking at but there’s certain other fingers in the pie so it’s a long way from being a done deal.’

Ling was a Town favourite in the early 90’s where he, along with Bodin, helped Swindon win a place in the English top flight for th first time.

Bodin was the caretaker manager of the Town first team for the final two fixtures of last season, winning at Tranmere but losing at home to Oldham.

Town had confirmed that they were keen to retain Bodin’s services under the management of Paolo Di Canio.

Bodin has helped Town’s youth set-up win their league three years running.

It would be a shame to see him go. It probably makes sense to step up to senior team coaching though.
