Former Swindon Town midfielder Paul Ince looks set to be named manager of Macclesfield Town who are rock bottom of League Two.

Ince played three games with Swindon Town last month after agreeing to join the club as a player/coach. Ince left shortly after saying the travelling from his home in Chester was too much.

Ince had joined Swindon Town as a favour to good friend and Swindon Town manager Dennis Wise. After advising Wise that he could not be committed 110% he decided to terminate his contract, however he would still remain at Swindon Town as a coach from time to time to earn his coaching badges.

Ince has made no secret of his desire to go into management and he may have his chance to follow Wise and start at the bottom of the Football League and work his way up.

Ince was at Macclesfield’s 3-2 loss to Bury Saturday, talking with Macclesfield management as well as keeping an eye on the proceedings on the pitch.

The Macclesfield Express has stated that Ince is expected to be unveiled on Thursday morning after a few formalities are resolved.

Macclesfield currently sit dead last in League 2 with 4 points and look favourites to be relegated to the Conference.

Macclesfield Town fans will be hoping first and foremost that Ince can retain their Football League status.
