BBC Radio Swindon today reported that a verbal contract has been agreed, with Wise and assistant Poyet set to be unveiled as early as Friday.
The 39-year-old former Chelsea and Wimbledon player, managed Millwall to the FA Cup final in 2004 where they were beaten 3-0 by Manchester United. It is yet unknown as to whether or not Wise will be featuring as a squad member.
It is also understood that current manager Iffy Onoura has turned down a reduced role at the club whilst Alan Reeves looks set to be leaving the club.
