Popular former Swindon Town loanee Danny Ward was once again on the losing side as Huddersfield Town lost 3-0 to Peterborough United in the League One Play-Off Final at Old Trafford this afternoon.

Ward was a pivitol figure in Swindon Town’s unsuccessful promotion attempt last season, scoring in both legs of the Play-Off Semi-Final against Charlton Athletic.

Since leaving Town, he had a disappointing injury hampered loan spell at Championship side Coventry City. However, after joining Lee Clark’s Huddersfield during the latter stages of the season he enjoyed some of the same form that made him loved at the County Ground.

Alas, for another season, it wasn’t to be as Darren Ferguson’s side killed the Terriers with three goals in 8 second half minutes.

Coming on as a late sub for Peterborough was former Town loanee David Ball. Ball was played largely out of position for Swindon in an unhappy spell. He joined Peterborough on a permanent basis in January.
