Swindon Town travel back to Hight Wycombe as they play Wycombe Wanderers in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. The rules have changed this year. In a bid to gain more interest in the competition clubs must field a majority of of the players who have been in the starting XI during the season. Also if after 90 minutes there is no clear winner a penalty shoot out will take place right after the 90 minutes.

Vital Quotes:

‘No disrespect to the cup but we want promotion’

Swindon Town manager Dennis Wise.

Wycombe Wanderers Team News:

Swindon Town will be happy to hear that Jermaine Easter will not feature in this game due to a thigh injury. Sergio Torres is out with a knee injury. Forward Ian Stonebridge could feature while goalkeeper Ricardo Batista and midfielders Ikechi Anya and Stephen Gregory could also be recalled according to some reports.

Player to watch: Tommy Mooney

Scored a 94th minute equaliser to rob Swindon of all 3 points 2 weeks ago whilst the teams met in the league. Mooney is a prolific striker and scored 20 goals for Swindon Town during his stay in the 2003/04 season.

Swindon Town Team News:

Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet could make their first team debuts it has been rumoured. Town will be without Andy Gurney, Gareth Whalley, Christian Roberts, Andy Caton, Peter Brezovan and Charlie Comyn-Platt. Town will be looking to make sure they don’t pick up any injuries. Manager Dennis Wise has said Ady Williams will likely feature.

Player to watch: Phil Smith

Smith will have a huge void to fill left by Peter Brezovan. With a strong defence, we are pretty sure that Smith will make the most of his chance and be very solid.

Match Facts & Stats

Swindon Town and Wycombe drew 1-1 at Adams Park about 2 weeks ago with goals from Royce Brownlie for Swindon and a last minute equaliser by Tommy Mooney. Town took over 1,000 fans to this game, however we expect a lot less this time given the unsignificance of the fixture.

Match Prediction:

After the 1-1 draw a couple of weeks ago anything is possible. Both teams looked very strong and both teams looked like they could win. We will say 1-1 and then onto penalties after 90 minutes. Swindon Town will win on penalties!

I still think many teams will not take the competition seriously though being quite honest.
