Councillor Michael Dickinson has advised fans that Trust STFC met with local residents around the County Ground to hear their views on the Stadium redevelopment and address their concerns.

There was a meeting late last week organised by Central Ward Conservatives which included:

– 2 ward councillors (myself & Sinead Darker)
– Broadgreen Community Council member (Karen Leakey)
– Deputy leader of the council & cabinet member for town centre regeneration (Rod Bluh)
– 2 members of TrustSTFC (Paul Davis & Tony Norris)
– a number of residents from Broadgreen & Shrivenham Rd areas
& chaired by Robert Buckland (PPC for South Swindon)

Councillor Dickinson who represents the area said ‘This was to discuss the concerns of the residents & a chance for the trust to put ideas to the local residents to see what they thought of them.’

As expected people in the area are against losing any of the open green land as Cllr Dickinson explained. ‘The residents main comment (I think with 100% support) – was no loss of any green space.’

There may be some light at the end of the tunnel. Residents and TrustSTFC shared the same views on many areas and hopefully this will be relayed back to the club to make ammendments to the current stadium plans which will likely be rejected. ‘A number of the trust’s ideas were met with interest by the councillors and residents. Although we do not agree on everything I think there is a lot of common ground and we will continue to work together. Another meeting will be held when there is any significant progress on the development of the site.’

Trust STFC Will be holding a open meeting for fans and residents Monday at the Holiday Inn at Coate Water where Karen Leakey from the Broad Street Community Council has been invited to hear fans views on the ground redevelopment.
