Swindon continued their pre-season in fantastic style with a superb team performance that led to an emphatic and deserved 8-1 win over Cirencester Town.

Wise started the game with what he must think is his starting 11, new signing Petr Brezovan starting in goal for the first time.

Lee Peacock got the ball rolling early in the first half, after the Cirencester goalkeeper fumbled Curtis Westons’ shot and allowed Peacock to take the ball around him and slot home nicely. Roberts added a second not long after, linking up well with strike partner Lee Peacock to finish with relative ease.

Cirencester got a goal back with a Scott Griffin penalty after Jamie Vincent had fouled Lee Smith inside the area.

Swindon restored their 2 goal advantage just before half time, a Jack Smith cross finding Lee Peacock who chested the ball down and volleyed home.

HALF TIME: CIRENCESTER TOWN 1-3 SWINDON TOWN

Wise made some changes at the start of the second half, bringing Lukas Jutkiewicz, Fola Onibuje, Andy Nicholas, Royce Brownlie, Charlie Comyn-Platt, Rodrigo Turnes and Phil Smith onto the pitch.

Midway through the second half an incise through ball from Lukas Jutkiewicz found Australian trialist Royce Brownlie who’s neat finish put Town 4-1 up. Brownlie added his second and Town’s fifth soon after, firing a superb shot low into the net after a good turn just outside the area.

Swindon added a sixth with 15 minutes remaining. Lukas Jutkiewicz, who recently signed a pro deal, was unmarked in the 6 yard box and headed home from a Jack Smith free kick.

With time running out Swindon added yet another goal. New signing Fola Onibuje running into the box and crossing for Aaron Brown who’s header was somehow saved, but Royce Brownlie stepped up to complete his hatrick, despite Lukas Jutkiewicz trying to claim the goal.

The rout was complete with the 90 minutes almost over. A Rodrigo Turnes corner was headed in by Fola Onibuje for the big striker’s second goal in as many pre-season games.

A promising performance from Town, who lined up like this.
