’15 points who gives a…’ Well clearly Ken Bates does. Swindon Town meet fallen giants Leeds United at the County Ground this Saturday.

This was the fixture Swindon Town fans were looking out for when they were promoted from League 2 next season and Dennis Wise relegated Leeds to League One.

Fans in Swindon were looking forward to giving Wise a piece of their mind and show him that his lack of loyalty would not be forgotten despite harping on about players staying loyal to the club.

Well Dennis Wise once again showed his loyalty and ditched Leeds United once Newcastle offered him a job of emptying dustbins or something at St. James’ Park.

Leeds started the season off well however since the departure of assistant Gus Poyet to Tottenham, Leeds have faltered somewhat and have slipped out of the playoff picture.

It became clear that Poyet was the secret to Leeds early season surge. It is no surprise that Spurs are doing well now Poyet is there.

Whilst the Wise factor is not there this is another big game for 2 teams who are still in the League One playoff hunt despite Swindon having a very slight chance of reaching the end of season playoffs now.

Vital Quotes:

‘We can’t perform like that again though or else we will get turned over and we can forget about the play-offs then.’

Swindon Town Goalkeeper Phil Smith on Town’s rubbish performance against Walsall last weekend’

Swindon Town Team News:

Swindon Town will be without Barry Corr and Michael Pook who are both recovering from injuries. Swindon Town sit 13th in League One and 9 points from the playoffs. If Town are to have any chance at extending their season they must pick up points at home as their away form is rather poor lately.

Player to watch: Phil Smith

Smith has been a bit un-easy since returning from a hernia operation. Smith was at fault for Oldham’s second goal and will need to win over the Swindon fans again after in-form goalkeeper Peter Brezovan was dropped for some bizarre reason.

Leeds United Team News:

Leeds drew 1-1 with Crewe Alexandra in their next fixture and currently sit 9th in League One, 5 points outside the playoffs after starting the season -15 points. Ken Bates the clubs owner is looking to get this penalty overturned and is taking The Football League to court. On the pitch, Alan Thompson could make the bench after a successful loan spell at Hartlepool. Tresor Kandol scored his first goal since November in Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Crewe. Former Town player Curtis Weston could feature after impressing in the teams reserve match with Scunthorpe.

Player to watch: Jermaine Beckford

Beckford has been incredible this season and has scored 17 goals this season for Leeds.

Match Prediction:

In typical Swindon fashion I can see us beating Leeds. We tend to play poor against the poor teams and good against the good teams. With over 12,000 expected at the County Ground (3,500 Leeds fans), We expect Town to come out 2-1 in the last minute.
