Former Swindon Town midfielder JP McGovern chats to us about his time with the club!

JP McGovern, for me, is one of my favourite players to don the red shirt in my life time. His grit, determination, and stamina meant he could produce his best football right up to the final whistle, and during our trek to the League 1 play off final, McGovern was simply excellent.

A fan favourite due to his humility, as well as being an easily approachable guy, JP’s career has taken him all over Britain, turning out for Sheffield United, Livingston, Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons and Carlisle United.

McGovern appeared 158 times in the league for Swindon, during his four year spell at the club, from 2007 to 2011. Now, plying his trade in Cumbria, he has become a key member of Greg Abbott’s side, and we caught up with him to talk about the ups and downs of his Swindon Town career!
