Swindon Town target Kevin Betsy has joined League One rivals Southend United.

Betsy had finally sorted out terms to leave Bristol City and Malpas was waiting for Betsy’s answer on whether he would accept a switch to Swindon after being at Town’s friendly against Plymouth earlier in the week.

Malpas told the clubs official website, ‘I think we have done what we can with Kevin Betsy. The ball is now in his court. I spoke to Kevin this morning and he said that nothing had changed,’

All day it appears though that Betsy was finalising his move to Southend and had no interest in actually joining Swindon Town.

Vital Swindon Town wishes Betsy nothing but the very worst at Southend.

Town may now turn their attention to Eastleigh’s Mark Marshall who was on trial earlier this month.

Another right charlie we tried to sign – lucky he shown his colors at the last moment -better off with out untrustworthy players like him. It might sound sour grapes but I think Marshall is still the better option, possibly cheaper too.
