Swindon Town’s promotion push was dented after a poor looking Swindon Town side suffered a 1-0 loss at Barnet this evening despite having more away fans at Underhill than home fans.

Barnet V Swindon Town

It was another story of, we can beat the good teams but struggle against teams we should have no problem beating despite the game being more like a home match for Town, who had more fans in the ground than the home team Barnet.

Barnet got off to the best possible start when Oliver Allen scored after only 6 minutes to give Barnet the lead, a lead they would hold on to until the end of the match.

The only real chance Swindon Town had was from Christian Roberts who saw his header saved by Bees goalkeeper Robert Burch.

After such a depressing game there really isn’t much to write about. Emotions were running high and frustration set in late in the game after Aaron Brown misdirected a corner into the Swindon Town fans. Fans then claim that Brown gestured towards them and swore at them for getting on his back after the corner, if this is true, Brown may have played his last match for Swindon Town.

Manager Rating
Paul Sturrock – 6 Sturrock tried to mix things up after the sloppy second half against Darlington Saturday afternoon. Most the players looked lost and this wasn’t Sturrock’s fault. The team desperately need Paul Evans back who is injured and a clinical finisher.

Opponent Rating
Paul Fairclough – 8 Fairclough knew this was a big game for Town and no doubt told his players to get stuck into Swindon. His players looked well organised and it looked as if Barnet were the team chasing promotion.

Very poor game. We need to sort it out Saturday. this week we should have taken 9 points, now we can only take a max of 4.
