Swindon Town have withdrawn permission for Leeds United to speak to Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet.

Statement From Swindon Town FC

As reported earlier, over the weekend Swindon Town FC received a request from Leeds United FC that they be allowed to speak with Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet regarding the outstanding managerial vacancy at that club.

Swindon Town FC reluctantly agreed to that request but made clear they would only release Dennis and Gus from their contracts if suitable compensation were paid by Leeds United FC. Regrettably it has proven impossible for the Clubs to agree a suitable financial package. Earlier today the Club withdrew permission for Leeds United FC to talk with or seek to appoint Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet.

Dennis and Gus remain valued members of Swindon Town FC as both players and part of the management team. Whilst discussions are ongoing between the two Clubs, Dennis and Gus remain contracted until the end of June 2009 and are continuing to fulfil their duties; both they and the Club are determined to ensure that the progress achieved to date continues.

Both individuals have been offered significantly improved terms at the club and it is hoped that they will both remain with Swindon Town FC for the foreseeable future.

I thik you are being a bit hasty with this story he is not ‘staying’ for sure it regularly happens that permission is withdrawn if there is an arguement over comp. But Leeds want him and will get him i would think it is just a delaying tactick by Town to get the deal they want. Bates will look stupid if he doesn’t get wise now

But Wise must have want to speak to Leeds otherwise it would be dead in the water, to have a manager in charge who wants to leave and the board have said no (so far) isn’t good for the team and morale. This uncertainity must be sorted out one way or another soon.

Dennis Wise should make a statement clearing the air with the fans!

I dont think its fair to put that pressure on Wise. He will do whats best for his career. Should he go I just hope we get a good manager in.

we won’t get another good manager the board are wanting to save money and have obviously still no ambition. What is the point keep supporting this farce of a club.
