Swindon Town Manager Dennis Wise believes Christian Roberts can be a goal scoring machine in League 2.

Swindon who lost Jamie Cureton to Colchester United have five strikers on their books at the moment. Lukas Jutkiewicz, Christian Roberts, Lee Peacock, Andy Caton and Ashan Holgate.

Caton, Holgate and Jutkiewicz all are under 19 and have not played a full season. Caton missed last season due to injuries suffered in a car accident.

Swindon Town had been linked to Ricky Lambert however that speculation has cooled down as of late.

Dennis Wise has his own solution to a potential striker crisis…. Christian Roberts. Roberts missed a good portion of last season after he was sent to the Sporting Chance alcohol rehabilitation centre.

Speaking of Roberts, Dennis Wise heaped praise on the former Bristol City man. ‘I’ve seen Christian Roberts over the last few days. He’s fine.

‘I think he can get me goals. We’ve played a few games and his finishing is very good.’

‘He’s strong, has a good touch and is an instinctive finisher. You don’t get many of those about in this game.

Wise is so confident in Roberts abilities he even made a friendly wager with the welshman. ‘I’ve told him I want 20 goals from him this season and I’ve had a bet with him.’

Roberts would be re-united with Lee Peacock, whom he teamed with at Bristol City.

Roberts joined Swindon from Bristol City and enjoyed a great start to his Swindon career scoring goals against Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City before being injured in a car accident.
