Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock has said he hopes that Royce Brownlie and Gareth Whalley will depart the club in the next week.

Brownlie and Whalley had been deemed surplus to requirements at the County Ground and have been available for loan or a transfer for about a month now.

Brownlie came to Swindon as a trialist in the summer under then-boss Dennis Wise and did enough to impress the former Chelsea great to earn a contract with the club. Brownlie scored 2 goals for Swindon. His last game for Swindon was at Mansfield where he went off with an injury.

Whalley joined Town from Premiership side Wigan Athletic prior to last season but has seen limited action due to a series of injuries. Whalley had signed a three year contract prior to last season. After being deemed surplus to requirements Swindon Town had attempted to sort out a settlement with the players` agent however this was rejected by Whalley.
