Blair Sturrock’s dreams of a Wembley appearance have been ended by injury it has been confirmed.

The Swindon Town striker, who was released this week by Danny Wilson, had joined Devon Blue Square Premier League outfit Torquay United on deadline day.

He made his debut at Mansfield Town and scored the equalising goal in the 1-1 draw. This was followed up by scoring in the 2-0 win against Kettering Town at Plainmoor.

After failing to score five games in a row he lost his place in the starting line-up to Elliott Benyon for the last game of the season. However, he returned for the 1st leg of the Play-Offs. Sadly for Sturrock he suffered a knee injury just 20 minutes into the 2nd leg and as a result will miss Torquay’s big day at Wembley.
