The Sky Sports website are reporting that Danny Wilson is keeping an eye on Non-League bound Darlington’s Irish forward Tadgh Purcell

Darlington manager Simon Davey stated to the Northern Echo that he and his chairman will do everything they possibly could to keep him but admitted that ‘every player wants to play in the highest league they can.’

The 25 year old, who can also operate on the right wing, started his career as a youth player at Leicester City but failed to earn a professional contract with the Foxes.

Upon his release, Purcell returned to Ireland where he played for briefly for University College Dublin and Kilkenny City before settling with Shamrock Rovers where he played over 100 times.

Former Republic of Ireland coach Steve Staunton brought Tadgh Purcell back to England with Darlington in January 2010 and has scored 9 times in 21 appearances for the Quakers – not bad considering the awful season they have had.
