Swindon Town are currently locked in contract negotiation’s with several first team players it was revealed on the weekend. Those currently mulling over new deals are Sean O’Hanlon, Jack Smith, Andy Nicholas, Ricky Shakes, Charlie Comyn-Platt and Rhys Evans

Former Manager Andy King stated on numourous occasions that O’Hanlon could play at the Championship level. With this being said Sean O’ may wait until the end of the season to see what is available.

Rhys Evans stated last week that he won’t sign the deal just to have a contract for next season. Evans will look at the best deal for him whether it be at Swindon or not. Evans, England’s former Under 21 keeper Evans, who used to play at Chelsea had a contract offer from Leeds United last year but turned it down to play closer to his family who live in Swindon. Last year Evans had fans guessing would he or would he not sign after voicing his dis-pleasure over reduced wages.

Andy Nicholas has been ever present this season after his Swindon career seemingly ended last year and was sent to Chester on loan. The former Liverpool man has had a great season this year and is one of the key players behind Swindon’s recent resurgence.

Midfielder Ricky Shakes and Charlie Comyn-Platt joined Town in the summer from Bolton Wanderers and have made their mark in a big way. Shakes has impressed enough to get a call up to Trinidad and Tobago’s International side with the chance of playing for them in the World Cup in Germany. After a slow start Comyn-Platt and Jack Smith has shown steady improvement and have helped the defence significantly. Comyn-Platt is currently out with an injury but should be back within the next 2 weeks.
