Going into the game it seemed a dead certainty that Swindon Town were going to lose at the Cauldron that is Bramall Lane but on this night, something magical happened and Town have one foot in the League One play-off final following an improbably 2-1 win.

It looked as if it would be a long journey home with Kieron Freeman scoring a low volley on 19 minutes to give the home team a 1-0 although hope was renewed when Town were awarded a penalty. Up stood Ben Gladwin who slammed the ball to the left but was saved by Blades keeper Mark Howard. Heading into half time it was 1-0 to Sheffield although it looked as if Town had livened up thanks to the goal.

On 51 minutes, Town would be level thanks to a cracking Sam Ricketts header that sparked jubilant scenes in the away end.

The game would continue to be a scrappy affair until a moment of magic on 94 minutes with Nathan Byrne running down the right and took a long range shot that slipped past Mark Howard in the Sheffield goal to send Town fans into wild celebrations.

Town now head back to the County Ground for the second leg of the 2 legged semi-final on Monday where they can win a shot at heading to Wembley Stadium for the final and promotion to the Championship.

Come On You Reds!!!
