Former Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock has been appointed the new boss of League Two outfit Southend United.

Sturrock, who guided Swindon out of the bottom tier during his Town career, replaces the popular Steve Tilson who had been in charge since 2003.

Joining Sturrock at Roots Hall is Salisbury City manager Tommy Widdrington as his assistant.

Rumours have already emerged suggesting that former Town midfielder Craig Easton could be once again linking up with his former boss.
