OHHHHHHHHH Shaun Taylor, became a famous rallying cry for Swindon Town fans after Shaun Taylor’s arrival at the County Ground.

Taylor was signed by Glenn Hoddle for £200,000 in June 1991.

During his 5 year tenure at Swindon Town, Taylor became an immensely popular player and was voted player of the season 3 times by the Swindon faithful.

Being over 6ft tall, many of Taylor’s 31 league goals for Swindon were headers.

One of Taylor’s most memorable moments at Swindon Town came when Town trailed 2-0 to Birmingham City. Taylor got injured and had to have 10 stitches above his left eye. Taylor ame back on and hit a headed to make it 2-1 to the Blues.

Town would come back in the second half after trailing 4-2 and actually win the game 6-4 thanks to a Yaylor cross that allowed Dave Mitchell to put Swindon back in the game.

Taylor captained Swindon during their only sason in the Premier League and also helped lead Swindon Town to the Division 2 Championship in 1996.

With Taylor’s contract coming to an end, Town accepted a £100,000 bid from Bristol City, allowing their famous captain to leave, given the fact Swindon Town’s finances were not very good at all.

Shaun Taylor is currently assistant manager at Forest Green Rovers in the Nationwide Conference.

He joined Rovers as assistant manager in June 2005 with former Bath City manager Gary Owers who joined as the boss at The Lawn Ground.

He was born in Plymouth in 1963 and as his time as a player was well known as a hard tackling no nonsense defender.

He has almost 500 Football League matches under his belt before ending his playing career.

Many Swindon Town fans name Taylor as their favourite to become the club’s manager whenever a vacancy at Swindon Town arises.
