Irish international defender Stephen Kelly expressed his happiness at his sides narrow 1-0 win over Swindon Town.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Birmingham City defender found himself in the starting line-up as John Pantsil’s replacement after he was ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.

In an interview with the official Fulham website, Kelly acknowledged Town’s performance by stating that Fulham’s win was ‘a good performance against a decent side.”

However, Kelly also highlighted what Danny Wilson stated and the travelling Town fans also noted which was the Robins lacked ideas up front – Kelly said that ‘there was never anything too clear cut for them and everything we did was very on the ball, professional and sharp.’

Meanwhile, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson singled out defender Chris Smalling’s performance in his post-match notes on Fulham’s official website, Hodgson said that the ‘game suited [Smalling] because they passed the ball well enough but it was only a matter of time before they hit the ball long to Paynter – so it is the type of game that we expect him to do well at.

The veteran manager continued to praise his side especially his attacking minded players by concluded the interview by stating that ‘in the second half some of our play was as good as it gets.’

I might be a lone voice with this theory but to be honest I think its good we are out the cup and not with a thrashing from Fulham. With the size of our squad it could have proved or caused us problems. good luck to Fulham in the next round.

I think a Play-Off push is more important but the financial side of the F.A. Cup cannot be ignored. It’s over, we got to the 3rd Round. Bring on the Franchise!!!
