Statement From Swindon Town FC

It is with disappointment that The Board of Swindon Town FC have acknowledged the departure of Manager Dennis Wise, Assistant Manager Gus Poyet and Goalkeeping Coach Andrew Beasley.

When Dennis and Gus came on board back in May they inherited a squad that had just been relegated and was low in confidence and moral. They injected enthusiasm and a new level of fitness and professionalism into the team, and helped create an atmosphere of positivity in and around the County Ground. Although we are all disappointed that the duo’s tenure at the club turned out to be brief, The Board would like to thank Dennis and Gus for steering the team to its current League Two position, and are confident that the squad they have assembled will continue to improve and generate further success for the club. As has previously been reported Dennis and Gus were both offered improvements to their Swindon Town FC contracts, but they felt that the opportunity to manage at a higher level was the best move for both their careers and their families at this time.

The Board would now welcome all interested candidates to apply, and will take the time to draw up a shortlist of suitable applicants to fill both roles vacated on a permanent basis.

A compensation package has been negotiated with Leeds United who we would like to thank for the professional manner they have made their approaches. The Board would like to wish both Dennis and Gus every success in their new roles, and once again thank them for their contributions during their time with Swindon Town FC.

As long as Williams or Iffy don’t get the job. We need to get someone quick and get some stability.

I would hope the board have learned they need a high profile apointment to keep the punters coming in
