people.co.uk is reporting that Plymouth Argyle chairman Paul Stapleton may be the only member of the Argyle board who wants Paul Sturrock to return to Home Park.

The report states that other names have been openly mentioned and other members of the Argyle board are keen on luring Russell Slade from west country rivals Yeovil.

It is well known that Stapleton and Sturrock have remained good friends after Sturrock left for Southampton 3 years ago.

Rumours are rife that Sturrock will leave Swindon early next week to rejoin Plymouth Argyle.

Sturrock stated after Swindon’s 1-0 win over Plymouth that he would not comment on speculation and that no deal had been agreed with plymouth.

The majority of Plymouth fans are said to be keen on Sturrock taking over from the departed Ian Holloway.

Lets hope he sees sense and stays – he had a good spell there (P.A.) -but times have changed …. or is thinking of his retirement in Devon if things don’t work out…

Paul S. I’m on about there, Russell S reminds me of the Little Britain bloke.

We don’t want Slade……and to be fair there are many of us that see Sturrock’s return as a less than ideal move also. Of course he’s a god in these parts but to return might be a mistake. If he does come we will feel for you guys but hopefully Sturrock won’t lie to you the way Hollow***** consistently lied to us.

Lets see what happens – good luck in a search for a manager…..

Is there not one person that can ever be honest with the stfc fans, i would respect Sturrock more if he said he was interested instead of saying nothing and leave fans again having to wait and speculate, we are not stupid and know he must be tempted to go back. I will be really disgusted with him if he does go on Tuesday and knew all along he was going.

Put yourself in his position – would you declare anything until its formally proposed and in writing – I hope he doesn’t go as I don’t think he’s right for the role, and going back is misleading as people expect or see things as all hunky dory and I don’t think they will be – especially this relationship with the chairman it clouds or smothers the situation.
