Rovers Look To Yeovil For Share

Bristol Rovers have opened talks with Yeovil Town about a possible ground share after talks look doomed to fail.

Chief Executive Nick Watkins has warned Rovers that any ground share at Swindon Town would not come cheap.

Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser Watkins said, ‘I have already said to Bristol Rovers though we would have to put a lot of extra work into getting the pitch ready for the extra amount of games and they would have to finance that and it would not be a small amount.

Cheltenham Town are keen to share with Rovers stating they are carrying a heavy financial loss this season that will carry over to the 2008/08 season.

Rovers are looking at their options and seem to want to play their home games at a bigger ground as their stadium is redeveloped next year.

Yeovil Town has a capacity of just over 9,000 whilst Cheltenham has around 7,000.

Rovers want to share with Swindon due to the stadium being able to hold 15,000 fans due to increased attendances.

Swindon Town fans are fearful that a ground share with Rovers will mean an increase in violence in Town as well as local residents being against the noise and having football every Saturday.
