Stockport County left-back Michael Rose has been linked with a switch to the County Ground.

With Danny Wilson on his holidays its hard to rate how valid this rumour is but the Swindon Evening Advertiser suggests that the two clubs are in talks.

Salford born Rose, 26, began his football career with Manchester United where he spent one year as a professional without making a first team appearance.

He left the glitz and glamour of Old Trafford for Non-League – firstly with Chester City (35 appearances) and Hereford United (80 appearances). Whilst at Edgar Street Rose narrowly missed out on promotion losing to Aldershot on Play-Offs but did represent England C on one occasion.

He earned himself a move into the Football League with Yeovil Town helping the Glovers earn promotion to League One in his first season. However, he struggled at Huish Park in his second season spending loan spells at Cheltenham Town and Stockport County.

In 2006, Rose dropped down to League Two to Stockport County where he has played 80 times including their 2008 League Two Play-Off Final win against Rochdale at Wembley.

With Stockport struggling financially many of their players are desperately looking for new employers.
