Former Swindon Town midfielder Paul Ince has been named manager of League 2 side Milton Keynes Dons after resigning from Macclesfield Town.

Ince said told the assembled media at the clubs new stadium, Stadium:MK ‘My heart has said stay (at Macclesfield) but my head has been telling me to go to MK Dons.

Speaking on his departure from Macclesfield Ince said, ‘We came here last October to do a job – to keep Macclesfield in the Football League – and we did it.’

Macclesfield were 14 points adrift at the bottom of the table when Ince arrived at Town.

Ince has been linked with several clubs since performing the great escape at Macclesfield and feels a move to MK Dons with more money will help him further his managerial career.

Ince will be hoping to take MK Dons back to League 1 this season after being eliminated from the League 2 playoffs by Shrewsbury Town.
