‘Ooh’ Shaun Taylor started his football league career with Exeter City when he signed for them from Western League outfit Bideford in 1986.
He played 200 times for the Grecians and helped them gain promotion from the fourth division in the late 80’s.
Glenn Hoddle brought him to Swindon Town in 1991 for £200,000 and forged a brilliant partnership with fellow Town favourite Colin Calderwood.
His second season in Wiltshire saw Town clinch promotion to the top flight of English football for the first time in Swindon’s history. That season Taylor was inspirational and scored 12 league goals from defence. He also scored the third during the Wembley classic, Swindon’s epic 4-3 win over Leicester City.
After 212 games Taylor left for Bristol City for the laughable fee of £50,000. Cheers Steve McMahon.
Taylor is now a youth coach at Exeter City.
