Newcastle United Target Simon Cox

Swindon Town striker has been the only significant highlight of the 2008/09 campaign scoring 24 league goals.

If you believe the papers the 21 year old striker is interesting Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion. Swindon legend and now Newcastle coach Colin Calderwood and West Brom Assistant Manager Mark Venus were among those who witnessed Cox bag a hat-trick at Northampton Town in midweek.

I can be argued that the majority of Town fans wouldn’t begrudge Cox’s almost certain summer departure (although the overwhelming majority want him to remain in Wiltshire!) – However, they will be hoping that bidders will be willing to pay more than the £1million the News of the World reported.

I’d hang on and wait for a decent club to come along if I was him!

He will leave – just a matter of how muxh we get for him. If its then well spent it could work out ok.

I don’t think anyone will begrudge his exit. Unless he joins a team like Bristol City.

Cox is a genuinely exciting prospect and under the right guidance could easily make the Premier League .

He needs to go to further his career, it would be nice to hold out for a higher price but someone this young should be helped on his way.
