Swindon Town brushed aside a Marche Select XI during Swindon’s final day in Italy.

A brace from Matt Ritchie along with efforts from Oliver Risser, trialist Etienne Esajas and Billy Bodin gave Swindon a comfortable 5-0 win.

Town midfielder Matt Ritchie told the official Swindon Town website that the ‘game tonight was a lot tougher because the opposition were a lot better than the side we played of Saturday.’

Meanwhile, in an interview for the Advertiser, Paolo Di Canio stated ‘that the result is not important but I saw improvement today’ but was grateful for the effort from Marche because ‘the first game the other team defended throughout and it was difficult to find space but this time we faced a better team who wanted to play football.’

STFC XI: Lanzano, Kennedy, Comazzi, Devera, Caddis, Ritchie, Risser (c), Smith, Timlin, De Vita, Atiku

SUBS: Paoletti, Ferry, Flint, Bodin, Esajas, Pavett, Clark, Evans, Amankwaah, Thompson.

Town return to England tomorrow with trialist Etienne Esajas in the squad as he has been given extra time to prove himself whereas Italian defender Alessandro Cibocchi didn’t feature in the Marche game so is unlikely to be offered a deal.
