Former Swindon Town youth player Theo Walcott scored a hat trick in England’s 4-1 win over Croatia this evening.

Walcott was at Swindon Town from the age of 10 before moving to Southampton who were in the Premier League at the time for a measly £2,000 before Theo sealed a £12m move to Arsenal.

Many football fans are unaware that Swindon Town unearthed the England superstar and quite rightly laugh when they find out we let Theo go for around £2,000.

Town may consider Theo the one who got away but at the end of the day if we didn’t let Theo go to Southampton would he have been playing for England tonight or stuck in League One with Swindon Town?
