It looks like it could be the end of Celtic loanee Ben Hutchinson’s career at the County Ground.
Although it is probably likely that Hutchinson will be around until his loan contract expires at the end of the month he has fallen behind Billy Paynter, Charlie Austin, Danny Ward and Lee Peacock in Danny Wilson’s attacking options. Hutch was missing from the bench for the 3-2 win over Leyton Orient last weekend.
Hutchinson has failed to deliver during his stay in Wiltshire managing only one goal (away at Exeter City on October 3rd) in over 660 minutes of football in all competitions for Swindon.
Last months edition of FourFourTwo magazine featured an article focusing on Town’s loan players Alex Revell, Simon Ferry and Hutchinson and reading that made it clear that he wanted to be back in Glasgow both for personal and professional reasons.
Hutchinson’s Town experience has been the complete opposite of his Celtic team mate Simon Ferry who has become a firm favourite on the terraces with his tenacious performances and his endeavour.
Hopefully this will be a lesson to Hutchinson because he may not set the Scottish Premier League on fire and perhaps one day he might find himself on trial at a club like Swindon trying to earn a contract after being released by the Scottish giants.
Sure, he may go back to Scotland and do well and I hope so. But his attitude can only be questioned by Swindon fans who only see his displays on the matchdays and not his ability on the training pitch et al.
However, with Wilson looking forward it might appear that the fans and the Town boss are on the same wavelength.
