QUAKERS HOLD FUN DAY FOR SWINDON VISIT

Music, magic and children’s television characters CBBC’s The Lampies will help celebrate a family fun day when Darlington FC take on Swindon Town on Saturday, August 19.

Centred around the North Stand, which was opened last year as a designated Family Stand, pre-match entertainment at the 96.6TFM Darlington Arena will include music from the Tees Valley Jazzmen, magicians, face painting and balloon modelling.

Characters from The Lampies will also be on hand to entertain children, while the club will be running the Text to Win*, Minute to Win It and Fans’ Man of the Match text competitions. The Minute to Win It competition will be offering five pairs of tickets to the teenage club night, Sweet, at Tall Trees, courtesy of TFM Radio.

Darlington’s Football in the Community team has also organised a penalty shoot-out competition at half-time.

Gates open at the 96.6TFM Darlington Arena at 1pm on Saturday, ahead of the League Two match, Darlington`s second home game of the season.

Darlington FC chief executive Jon Sotnick said: ‘This is a family club and we want everybody who attends Saturday`s match to have fun throughout the afternoon. This will be a day of entertainment, not just in terms of a good football match, but also in terms of what fans can see and do before the match and at half-time.’

Entry to the match is free for under-sevens and any supporters buying a programme will receive a voucher for 50p, redeemable at any kiosk throughout the stadium.

*The Text to Win competition is run throughout this week and up until half time, when the winner is announced. For details of how to enter, visit the website www.darlington-fc.net .

In the last Text to Win competition, against Macclesfield, Al Hinde won a two-night DFDS cruise for two to Amsterdam, while Yvonne Rennard won a meal for two at Atlantic Bar and Grill. The Fans’ Man of the Match winners were Caroline Atkinson, Paul Newnham and Mike Atkinson.

Once again, the prize for the Text to Win competition will be a two-night cruise for two from South Shields to Amsterdam, courtesy of DFDS. Prizes for the Fans’ Man of the Match will be a DVD of the game, a signed ball and a pair of carvery vouchers.

The club still requires fans to volunteer as cleaners and any supporters who can stay behind after the Swindon Town game to help – in return for a ticket to the next home match – should contact the commercial department on 01325 387000.
