It was a big ask from the start but the result seemed inevitable. Premier League giants Chelsea saw off their League One counterparts 2-0 under the floodlights at the County Ground.

Heading in to the match all eyes were in Chelsea duo David Luiz and Juan Mata who had been left out of the Chelsea squad.

Chelsea’s starting XI had a host of big names including Fernando Torres, Mata and David Luiz but Town were able to keep level until 29 minutes when Torres slotted the ball home past Wes Foderingham to give the visitors the advantage.

Just six minutes later that lead would double thanks to a goal from Ramires and the rout looked to be on.

Chelsea introduced former England captain John Terry for the second half and Town played some good stuff but lacked a finish.

It could have been a different game if Dany N’Guessen’s header was not ruled offside.

Town held The Blues scoreless for the second half with the game ending 2-0 to Chelsea although it was a very spirited performance from the Swindon lads.
