Walsall have released former Town star Sam Parkin on a Free Transfer.

Whilst a Town player, Parkin netted 67 league goals in 124 games before leaving for Ipswich Town and the Championship.

However, since departing Wiltshire, a combination of injuries and loss of form has seen Parkin move from Ipswich to Luton Town which coincided with their fall from the 2nd tier to Non-League.

Upon his release from Luton last summer he was given a lifeline from Chris Hutchings at Walsall. But Parkin never found form and was mainly utilised from the bench. He scored 3 times for the Saddlers, the last coming against Yeovil Town in December.

    An unfortunate decline.

In his hay day here was a fans favourite and deservedly so – a gentleman on and off the field. Good luck to him for the future.
