In recent seasons Swindon Town have relied on the youth system to provide options especially as cover – players making relatively successful transitions to the first team include Callum Kennedy and Lloyd Macklin.

However, this year the club have only offered deals to two graduating scholars.

Wales U-21 forward Billy Bodin and U18 captain Will Evans have both been offered 1 year professional deals. Bodin, son of Paul, has impressed many this season and has featured on the bench for Town in the last month.

Some have been surprised by the decision to release Matty Barnes, the young midfielder who managed to managed to make it onto the first team subs bench for the F.A. Cup tie with Woking.

Following Barnes out of the club are Callum Antell, Elliott Knight, Mark Hartmann and Jordan Record.
