Winding Up Order Dismissed

Non-executive vice chairman Mark Devlin, who had told fans not to panic over the winding up order that was served on the club has now said the matter has been fully resolved and the order has been removed.

The order was issued following an application by HM Revenue and Customs. This was the second such order this year as Swindon also received one in January after defaulting on a £600 000 vat bill.

Previously Devlin had said: ‘Yes we have been asked to pay outstanding monies to the Inland Revenue but the situation is under control’ assuring fans ‘There is no need to panic as money is being put in place to settle this payment, as was always intended, by 18 October.’

Seems, true to his word, The High Court were told that the club had now paid its debt in full and the winding up order was dismissed.

Devlin said: ‘The Inland Revenue told the judge that we had paid the bill so the petition to wind us up was withdrawn. It’s a relief in the respect that it is no longer hanging over us, but the situation was always under control and we were always going to meet the October 18 deadline. The matter is now resolved and we hope it didn’t cause too much alarm to our supporters, or anyone else associated with the club.’
