Town midfielder Michael Timlin has committed himself to the club for a further two years.

The 26 year old was reported to be in discussions with Paul Sturrock, the man who brought him to Swindon, at Southend United.

Sure, Timlin isn’t the greatest player to have donned the Swindon Town shirt. However, he is one of the few who came out and stated their desire to stay at Swindon… and mean it!

This time last year people were surprised to learn that Danny Wilson had offered Timlin new terms after struggling to break into the Town side that made it to Wembley.

The former Ireland under-21 player featured more after a decent loan spell at Southend and was often acknowledged for his effort during Swindon’s dreadful season.

Michael Timlin first arrived in Wiltshire during the 2006/07 season as a loanee from Fulham and a second temporary stint happened a year later.

He joined on a permanent basis in 2008 and has made 119 league appearances in total for Swindon (scoring 7).
