Swindon Town are close to making their first signing of the off-season according to assistant boss David Byrne.

The former caretaker manager told BBC Radio Swindon that the club is close to securing the signature for a player which should help the clubs drive to 6,000 season tickets this year.

Byrne was quick to reiterate that the club will only sign players who are right for the club and will not be spending vast sums of money or panic-buying.

Town are thought to be looking for another left back to replace Miguel Comminges who is expected to sign for Cardiff City shortly.
