Swindon Town have announced that they are backing the city of Bristol’s bid to stage World Cup games in 2018.

Earlier this year Bristol City launched their bid along with 15 others all hoping to see the pinnicle of international football played in their city.

In this proposal, Swindon Town’s ‘redeveloped 25,000 capacity’ stadium will act as a training facility for national teams preparing to play in Bristol City’s new ground.

Speaking to the official STFC website Town manager Danny Wilson (and obviously former City boss) called it a ‘fantastic opportunity for the football club and for Swindon as a town… we are delighted to back Bristol’s bid and hope all Town fans will do as much as they can do’
