Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou’s claims that the Hampshire club placed a one million pound bid for Charlie Austin are false according to Swindon Town chairman Andrew Fitton.

Recently Andronikou, the former Swindon administrator, stated that Portsmouth’s owners ‘put in a £1 million bid for Charlie Austin from Swindon and that was turned down.’

However, Fitton has angrily denied that this was the case. The Town chairman confirmed that Pompey did make an offer but it was far less than the millions pounds that was claimed. Fitton claims he still has the text message based offer as proof of the bid.

Charlie Austin was linked to several clubs before the transfer window closed last week.
