Christian Roberts, who turned 26 on Saturday, said his penalty strike against Sc**thorpe was ‘a nice birthday present’.

The Welsh striker scored his third goal of the season and earnt Swindon a share of the points despite being down to 10 men against high flying Sc**thorpe.

Roberts has had a difficult time at Swindon since his move from Bristol Rovers a year ago due to injuries and a dip in form. However, he feels he is now paying back the faith shown in him by caretaker boss Onuora.

Roberts said: ‘I’ve waited a long time to get my chance so I’m glad I took it. I had a good game in the week against Stevenage and the gaffer kept faith in me. It was a nice birthday present, I felt I deserved it and I was glad it just fell to me.’
