Former Swindon Town winger Matt Ritchie has revealed that he was told he had to leave Swindon Town otherwise the deal to sell the club to a new consortium would not happen.

It would appear that the mystery consortium wanted to reduce the wage bill before taking on the club. One would assume at this time the new owners want to run a successful and profitable business.

Speaking to the press Ritchie said, ‘I think Swindon have got into some difficulty and when the new owners came in, they said me going was part of it (the sale).’

Ritchie went on to explain his delight at the move before signing a three a half year deal with the club.
