Swindon Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Marc Richards in the four three victory over Crewe Alexandra at the weekend at the County Ground was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Richards was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘It was quite the home debut for Richards, who opened the scoring for Swindon against Crewe Alexandra, before completing a dramatic turnaround in the 89th-minute. After his early finish, the visitors then took control and moved into a 3-1 lead. However, a brace from substitute Timi Elsnik drew Town level, leaving Richards to send the majority inside the County Ground into raptures ? both contributions subsequently earned the two shared the EFL Star of the Day award.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Richards for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.
