Residents Say No To Bristol Rovers

The residents around the County Ground have given a resounding ‘NO’ to the prospect of Swindon Town sharing with Bristol Rovers.

Residents around the ground have said they are concerned that outbreaks of violence will happen at games as well as the increased noise and traffic concerns will make their lives difficult.

A representative of the Broad Street Area Community Council told the Western Daily Press, ‘I haven’t spoken to a single person living around here who things that the ground-share is a good idea. People are concerned about the usual – traffic, parking and noise.’

Meanwhile former chief executive Mark Devlin told the Swindon Advertiser that the Rovers/Swindon ground share could work. Devlin was with Queens Park Rangers who were ground sharing with Fulham previously and noted that the arrangement worked.

Swindon Town midfielder Lee Peacock, the council, police, TrustSTFC and the fans have all voiced their concerns over the proposed groundshare in Swindon whilst Rovers re-develop the Memorial Stadium.
