Swindon Town manager gave his thought’s on Swindon Town’s 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley at the County Ground.

‘Its a strange game football – Stockport lose today and that’s what this league is all about – everybody seems to beat everybody. There’s a lot of nervousness in that team after the pressure I’ve put them under in the last week but I think most of them responded properly and we ran out convincing winners’

‘People have got to appreciate that there’s still a lot of work to be done. It’s vitally important that we get new players in because we need that freshness. It was a grinding, dirty win – as I said if someone was to tell me we’ll get another ten of them – I’d take it

‘It was a stonewall penalty. Shakey was putting presence on it behind the defender. Other days we wouldn’t have got it

‘We worked very hard on our set pieces yesterday. I’m trying to get more out of set pieces and it’s been a disappointment to us but I liked the way we pushed on at two nothing

‘I go home a happy manager this week. 2 or 3 others have the sleepless nights I had last week. This is going to in happen in this league to the end of the season

‘I was very pleased with the fans. The first twenty minutes it was very tetchy – it was very nervous and it would have been very easy for the fans to turn on them but they sang right through. I was delighted that they responded in the proper way

‘I’m hoping that every team I’ve been enquiring about has won four or five nil today and the manager has a fantastic weekend then comes in on Monday to receive that dreaded call from Swindon yet again and this time he capitulates and gives me everything I want.

‘We’re going to put that on hold. We’ve been very lucky that one of the club’s managers I know are going to allow my goalkeeper to pop in once or twice a week if he wants to. We’re going to rent their goalkeeping coach – for nothing! I’ve called a favour in and I’m very pleased of the manager agreeing to it!’
