Former Swindon Town striker Fola Onibuje who was released from Wycombe has joined Shrewsbury Town on trial.

Shrewsbury manager Gary Peters stated that the 6`7 Nigerian striker ‘pkept rang him up asking if he could try out for Shrewsbury’

Speaking of the deal Shrews Boss Peters said, He’s kept phoning me to see if he can come up to train with us and I’ve invited him up for a few days.

“He’s not got a club at the moment, so we’ve said that we’ll have a look at him.

“He’s a little different than what we’ve got, he’s 6ft 7ins and very quick, it is unusual to get those two attributes together.

“He’s still got a bit to learn, but can be a handful and he scored for Swindon when they played up here last season.”

According to reports The Shrews were attempting to sign Onibuje prior to his released from Wycombe.

Onibuje was released last week by Wycombe Wanderers after falling down he pecking order at Adams Park after signing a 2 year deal after being released by Swindon last season.

Onibuje became a hit with Swindon fans with his unorthodox style and pace but failed to impress Paul Sturrock after the departure of Dennis Wise who signed him from Cambridge United.
