Swindon Town are in talks with former Newcastle United and Hibernian midfielder Alan O’Brien.

Dublin born O’Brien, 24, started his career with Newcastle United but made his senior debut in 2005 while on loan at Carlisle United – scoring on his debut in the 3-1 loss to Bristol Rovers.

During that same season he had impressed enough to make his Premier League debut in the 1-0 loss at Fulham.

Despite playing for the Republic of Ireleand on several occasions, O’Brien made only 5 league appearances for the Magpies in total before being released.

A switch to the Scottish Premier League was next up for the winger who made 47 appearances over two seasons.

O’Brien has been released from his contract and has been reported by Sky Sports to be talking to Danny Wilson.

I shall keep you posted.
